AXE PRODUCTIONS LIVE EVENT and LIVE CONCERT PRODUCTION TEAM

The AXE Productions' team is led by owners JON BECKETT and KELLY KIMO and includes some of the most experienced audio, video, lighting, staging, and event and concert management professionals in Canada.

JON BECKETT » OWNER/PRESIDENT

For over 30 years, Beckett has worked as a professional audio engineer, touring with acts like the ROLLING STONES, ZZ TOP, THE GUESS WHO and AC/DC. His multi-faceted career has included television, recording studios and concert halls, including a stint as Head of Audio for the Edmonton Symphony at the Winspear Center. As a Tour Manager with WIDE MOUTH MASON, Beckett has been to China, the USA and across Canada.

KELLY KIMO » OWNER/VICE-PRESIDENT

An audio engineer and lighting technician for 25 years, Kimo's industry roots run deep. He started playing in local bands as a teenager. As AXE Productions’ Vice-President, he has managed and directed numerous large-scale events including JUNO FAN FEST, MISSIONS FEST and the YC CONFERENCE, the second largest event held at Edmonton Northlands behind CapitalEX (formerly Klondike Days), utilizing Rexall Place, Northlands Agricom and Northlands Park. Kimo’s attention to detail and extensive knowledge of the trade have led AXE Productions to the forefront of the live event and live concert production industry.

COLIN DETERT » OPERATIONS MANAGER – STAGE & LIGHTING DESIGNER – VIDEO MOBILE TRUCK OPERATOR

Detert is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan's Theatre Program, specializing in lighting and set design, and has been a professional Lighting and Set Designer for over 14 years. At CREDIT UNION CENTER (formerly Saskatchewan Place) in Saskatoon, Detert developed a broad range of expertise, designing everything from intimate corporate functions to nationally and internationally televised concert and sporting events. He delivers a myriad of lighting & set designs, from hard-edged industrial-concert-style shows to an elegant themed look for corporate & private functions. Deter’s expertise in CAST Software's Wysiwyg allows for accurate simulations and photo realistic renderings of events & designs, allowing clients to view and modify a design before it’s built.

JEFF CARMICHAEL » PRODUCTION MANAGER - HEAD OF AUDIO

Carmichael hails from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and his 12 years of experience has included shows such as the Western Canada Summer Games, Aboriginal Summer Games, Fringe Theatre Festival, Saskatoon Ex and the Jazz Festival. He has toured with Kalen Porter, Tantric, Saliva, Drowning Pool and many others. Carmichael now heads up all the major events produced by AXE Productions, which he joined in 2005.

CONNIE MCCALL – WIELICZKO » BACK LINE & SMALL RENTAL SERVICES MANAGER

McCall is perhaps the most experienced professional in Western Canada with over 30 years experience as Crew Chief, Stage Manager, Technical Director & Back-line Coordinator. Her credits include numerous festivals such as the EDMONTON FOLK FESTIVAL, EDMONTON LABATTS BLUES FESTIVAL and many more. McCall has also managed equipment rental departments for many of the industry’s largest suppliers. McCall’s skill-set is an invaluable asset to AXE Productions, which includes locating and providing musical instruments, stage gear, technicians and labor.

MICHAEL KRYTON » DIRECTOR OF MARKETING, CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Kryton brings 30 years of experience as a producer, director, writer and creative strategist to the process. Having worked with the AXE Productions team in the past, his credits include multi-media shows at the Shaw Conference Center, Winspear and the Banff Conference Center. His creative work has garnered awards in Toronto, New York and Hollywood. Kryton’s role contributes to the further development of creative concepts and production being pursued by AXE Productions’ clients.

CHRIS FELTMATE » SHOP MANAGER

Originally from Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, Feltmate moved to Edmonton after touring Canada and the USA as a guitarist/soundman in the late 90's. He has been with Axe Productions for over 7 years, working his way up from Loader to Shop Manager: prepping inventory for shows, coordinating transportation of gear for shows, and managing inventory including repairs and maintenance.
